Symptoms

The Dovecot maillog returns the following errors after updating to cPanel version 132.

Error: Failed to unhibernate client: 
net_connect_unix(/var/run/dovecot/imap-master) failed: Permission denied

 

Description

cPanel updates to 132, updated Dovecot to version 2.4.1. Dovecot required many parts of the configuration file/template to be rewritten. The hibernation service is now configured to use the user "dovenull", but it triggers permission errors because the service is running as the user "dovecot" instead.

We've opened an internal case for our development team to investigate this further. For reference, the case number is CPANEL-49998. Follow this article to receive an email notification when a solution is published in the product. 

 

Workaround

Disable hibernation in the Mail Server configuration.

  1. Log in to WHM
  2. Navigate to "Home / Service Configuration / Mailserver Configuration"
  3. Scroll down to "Idle Hibernate Timeout"
  4. Change the value to 0 to disable
  5. Click "Save Changes" at the bottom right
