Symptoms

After updating to v132, clear-text passwords stop working even if the "Allow Plaintext" setting had previously been enabled.

 

Description

Dovecot made a setting change from disable_plaintext_auth to auth_allow_cleartext, and when this change was incorporated, the setting was set to no instead of what was originally set.

 

Workaround

A fix has been released for CPANEL-50178 in cPanel v132.0.8. With this change, your current plaintext authentication setting will be preserved when upgraded from v130 to v132. If you have already upgraded to v132, logging into your WHM and going to "WHM /Service Configuration / Mailserver Configuration" would allow you to re-enable "Allow Plaintext" if needed.
