Symptoms
With cPanel v132, which updates dovecot to cpanel-dovecot-2.4.2-2, is causing emails that newly arrive on the server to be delivered to the 'cur' (current) directory instead of the 'new' directory for the email account.
Description
Normally, emails (maildir) are stored in 'new' when delivered and not accessed by an email client yet. With the cPanel update, which updated 'cpanel-dovecot', emails arrive immediately in the 'cur' directory that is installed. This applies to the default email and the email accounts created.
With the latest Dovecot version, emails are immediately stored/moved to a path like /home/worker4/mail/cur/ or /home/username/mail/user/curwhich would normally indicate that the messages have been read via a mail client.
We've opened an internal case for our development team to investigate this further. For reference, the case number is CPANEL-50190. Follow this article to receive an email notification when a solution is published in the product.
