Failed to create a temporary API token on account transfer Print

  • 0

Symptoms

When attempting to transfer or restore an account via the Transfer or Restore a cPanel Account interface, you may encounter an error similar to the following:

Failed: “$user” failed to create a temporary API token “$api-token-name” on “$domain”:
You do not have the feature “apitokens”. at
/usr/local/cpanel/Cpanel/RemoteAPI/cPanel/TemporaryToken.pm line 111

Description

The Transfer or Restore a cPanel Account uses an API Token on the source server in order to facilitate the transfer. This requires that the account on the source server have the API Tokens feature enabled.

Workaround

You can enable the API Tokens feature by assigning the affected account to a package that has the API Tokens feature enabled via WHM -> Upgrade/Downgrade an Account on the source server. Otherwise, you can enable the API Tokens feature on the user's existing package via WHM -> Feature Manager.

Another option is to use WHM -> Transfer Tool in order to transfer the account instead. This method may be preferred, as no modifications should need to be made to the account's features on the source server.
