Symptoms
When performing a cPanel backup on the Ubuntu operating system, you may encounter this error in the backup logs:
gzip: warning: GZIP environment variable is deprecated; use an alias or script
Description
This is a formatting issue with the backup script, but all data is backed up properly. You can safely ignore this error until the issue is resolved.
We've opened an internal case for our development team to investigate this further. For reference, the case number is CPANEL-40948. Follow this article to receive an email notification when a solution is published in the product.
Workaround
There is nothing that needs to be changed on the server as you can ignore this warning from the backup process.
